


The Victory Day celebration was attended by Bangladesh expatriate community members and few Sri Lankan dignitaries. In the evening a cultural programme that followed featured patrioticsongs, dance, and recitation of poems performed by family members of the High Commission officials and members of Bangladesh community. He called upon all to take a fresh vow to work for the betterment of the country. He highlighted the development strides of Bangladesh under dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. High Commissioner Islam in his remarks paid rich tribute to the Father of the Nationand reflected on his life and works.

The discussants recalled with gratitude the supreme sacrifice of the martyrs of liberation war and highlighted the importance and relevance of the Victory Day in the nation building. Taking part in the discussion, officials of the High Commission renewed their pledge of working relentlessly for the country. It was followed by observing one-minute silene, placing floral wreath at the portrait of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, offering special prayers, reading out of the messages of the Hon’ble President, Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and State Minister for Foreign Affairs, screening documentary and an open discussion session. The celebration commenced in the morning with the ceremonial hoisting of the National Flag by High Commissioner TareqMdAriful Islam.
